Welcome to Rent It SL. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before using the platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, posting a listing, or browsing Rent It SL, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

2. Use of the Platform

Rent It SL is a marketplace platform that allows users to advertise rental items and services. We provide the technology and infrastructure — we are not a party to any rental transaction between users.

• You must provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account or listing.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must not use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
• You must not post spam, misleading content, or duplicate listings.
• You must not attempt to scrape, hack, or interfere with the platform's operation.

3. Listing Rules

All listings are subject to review by our admin team before being published. We reserve the right to reject or remove any listing that:

• Contains false, misleading, or inaccurate information.
• Advertises illegal items or services under Sri Lankan law.
• Violates intellectual property rights of others.
• Contains offensive, harmful, or inappropriate content.
• Is a duplicate of an existing listing.
• Has been reported multiple times by users (see Section 6).

Listings that receive 5 or more reports from users are automatically hidden pending admin review.

4. Fraud & Safety Disclaimer

While we take steps to moderate listings and verify seller identities, we cannot guarantee the authenticity, accuracy, or legitimacy of every listing or every user on the platform. Rental transactions are conducted entirely between the renter and the owner.

To protect yourself from fraud, we strongly advise:

• Always transact with verified accounts. Look for the blue Verified Seller badge on listings. Verified sellers have submitted a government-issued ID to our admin team.
• Never transfer money or pay a deposit before inspecting the item in person.
• Insist on a written rental agreement before completing any transaction.
• Meet in a safe, public location when viewing or collecting rental items.
• Do not share personal financial information (bank account numbers, passwords, OTPs) with other users.
• If a deal seems too good to be true, exercise extra caution — it may be a scam.
• Report suspicious listings immediately using the "Report this listing" button.

By using Rent It SL, you acknowledge and agree that Rent It SL bears no responsibility for any financial loss, property damage, personal injury, or any other harm resulting from your use of the platform or your dealings with other users. All transactions are at your own risk.

5. Verified Accounts

Rent It SL offers an optional account verification process where users can submit a government-issued ID (National ID Card, Passport, or Driving Licence) for review. Verified users receive a "Verified Seller" badge on their listings.

Verification is an identity confirmation service only. It does not constitute an endorsement of the user's goods, services, or listings. Rent It SL makes no guarantees regarding the conduct of verified users.

We reserve the right to revoke verification status at any time if we have reason to believe verification documents were fraudulent or if the user violates these Terms.

6. Reporting & Content Removal

Users can report listings they believe violate our policies. Listings that receive 5 or more user reports are automatically hidden from public view and flagged for admin review. Our team will review flagged content and take appropriate action, which may include permanent removal or user account suspension.

We also reserve the right to remove any listing or user account at our sole discretion without prior notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rent It SL, its owners, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of money or property resulting from fraudulent listings or transactions.
• Loss of data or access to the platform.
• Damage to your device or systems from accessing the website.
• Any claims made by third parties.

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid to us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on Rent It SL — including the logo, design, code, and platform features — is the intellectual property of Rent It SL or its licensors. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any part of our platform without written permission.

By posting a listing, you grant Rent It SL a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and promote your listing content on our platform and associated marketing channels.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that we reasonably believe has violated these Terms and Conditions, without prior notice and without liability.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page whenever changes are made.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
